Review: Maybelline Mineral Powder Foundation
I’ve been testing out this foundation for the last few weeks and thought that I would share my thoughts with you on it. Maybelline is one of the few mass retail drug store brands (Revlon, Cover Girl) that carries foundation shades for us naturally bronzed beauties.
The Claims: Maybelline claims that this foundation is clinically proven to make the skin smoother by 30%, increase hydration by 18% and add 25% more luminosity. The foundation is also supposed to blend effortlessly for breathable coverage.
The Goods: The foundation comes in a 30ml squeeze tube similar to that of MAC’s Face & Body foundation; just a lot smaller. This foundations is fragrance-free, oil-free, talc free and comes in 16 skin-true shades.
Overall: This is a pretty decent foundation for something that I found in the drugstore. I can’t say for sure if this foundation boosted hydration in my skin but it definitely kept my face feeling comfortable. A little bit goes a long way and this foundation is definitely blend-able and you can build the coverage if needed. It’s light weight and doesn’t feel like a mask. I do find that it has a bit of a dewy finish to it so I usually blot my face before I apply my setting powder. I would say that most skin-types could wear this foundation except for those that are really oily; you’ll want something with a little more staying power.
Maybelline Eyeshadow Quad in Charcoal Smokes
I was going through my makeup bag and realized that over the years I have become a brand snob. Most of the eye shadows in my personal stash are MAC. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my MAC shadows but I thought that I would get back to my roots a bit and ordered the Maybelline Charcoal Smokes shadow quad from Well.ca as I didn’t see this one in my local drugstore.
As some of you may know, I love smokey eyes but I was looking for something a bit different then the typical black or charcoal smokey palettes.
This palette features a light grey/silver, gray?, gray purple and a shimmery black. The only colour that I don’t like in this palette is the botton left colour highlight). For some reason these types of colours look dreadful on me so I try to stay away from them. So far I’m really liking this palette. I’ll post a few FOTD soon so you can see what they look like on.
